Prayer and Self-denial – “The 2026 theme for United Women in Faith’s A Call to Prayer and Self-Denial service –‘The Future Is Now: Invest in Our Children.’ This year’s offering will help children through the work of United Women in Faith’s National Mission Institutions which help our most marginalized and vulnerable children through low-cost early-childhood education: afterschool programs with a hot meal and caring mentors and enrichment programs; mental health counseling and social-emotional support; internships and work experiences; life-saving intensive care for severely traumatized youth; guidance for the transition to adulthood and independence; and reunification with family.” (source: January/February Response p.6-7)
United Women in Faith (UWFaith) actively addresses food insecurity through advocacy for programs like SNAP, supporting local food pantries (like Families Forward), providing grants for economic empowerment (farming, small businesses), and organizing community service for meal/hygiene kits, viewing it as a core mission to provide both immediate relief and address root causes, with members engaging in local action and prayer. They work with National Mission Institutions (NMIs) to offer direct assistance, promote self-sufficiency, and advocate for justice to ensure women, children, and youth have food and security.
Hosting River Bluffs Area (district) meeting April 18, 2026 – Northfield United Women in Faith are hosting a gathering of women from the southeastern Minnesota area in April 18, 2026. We will be coming together to learn more about food insecurity and climate change, and sharing fundraising ideas for UWFaith missions.
