Growing Together in Faith | Children & Youth at NUMC
At Northfield UMC, we affirm that every child and youth is beloved of God. Our ministries provide fun, meaningful, faith-building experiences for all ages. Whether you’re exploring what it means to follow Jesus for the first time or joining with friends in service and leadership, there is a place here for you.
Children’s Ministry (Pre-K through 5th Grade)
Our children gather in ways that help them grow in creativity, wonder, and faith:
- Sunday Mornings: Children begin worship with their families and then move to a kid-friendly time of story, music, sharing, and activities designed especially for their age.
- Super Wednesdays: A vibrant midweek program featuring play, snack, activities, and faith-learning—perfect for building friendships.

Permission Slips / Registration
To ensure safety and communication for all children participating in Super Wednesdays, we ask families to complete our annual permission form. This form covers contact information, medical considerations, photo release, and transportation permissions.
Our aim is simple and heartfelt: to nurture wonder, build relationships, and help each child say, “I know God loves me, I belong here, I can make a difference.”
Children are supported by caring adults, college interns, and teen mentors who walk alongside them with warmth and encouragement.
Youth Ministry (6th through 12th Grade)
Youth at NUMC find a welcoming community where they can show up as their full selves—ideas, questions, humor, and gifts included.
We offer:
- Weekly gatherings on Wednesday evenings (6:30 pm) to connect, reflect, and grow together.
- Service opportunities rooted in NUMC’s hands-on mission identity—local partners, justice-focused projects, and an annual mission trips.
- Retreats, trips, and social events that deepen friendships and build spiritual resilience.
- A safe, inclusive space where teens know they belong.
Youth are led by our Youth Director, Kristen Twitchell, and supported by committed college interns.
Together as a Community
Faith formation at NUMC is intergenerational and communal. Families, volunteers, pastors, mentors, and college students all partner to create a culture of welcome, curiosity, compassion, and service.
No perfect attendance required—just an open heart, a willingness to learn, and space to grow together.
