Chroma keying

Have you noticed what’s new at the streamdesk on Sunday mornings? Eagle-eyed worshippers may have noticed my 10 year old son helping run the broadcast recently. With his help we were able to implement a change recommended by the streamdesk team at a recent meeting of the minds.

We’ve started using a new technique to show the song lyrics on the livestream. Chroma keying, commonly known as a green screen effect, allows us to bring in text and images over the video background, providing an experience to the home viewer that is a big step toward feeling like “actually being in the sanctuary”, according to recent comments from our own church office administrator.
