Joanne Harris Rodland is a graduate of Bucknell University, NYC's Union Theological Seminary School of Sacred Music, and The West Chester Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis. Joanne retired to Northfield in 2014 and has enjoyed substituting in the wonderful churches in this community! A Church Musician for most of her life, she served The West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood, NJ as Associate to her husband, beginning in 1968. Following the death of The Rev. John R. Rodland in 1989, she became the full time Minister of Music. Choral conducting and years of working with Childrens' Choirs have been central to her ministry. A certified Orff-Schulwerk teacher, she has published articles and conducted workshops and choir festivals nationally with special emphasis on the use of speech chants in Music and Christian Education programs within the church. Daughter Dr. Catherine Rodland, teaches organ and theory at St. Olaf and daughter Carol Rodland teaches viola at The Juilliard School of Music in NYC.
